Your privacy matters. BI Splitter is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information with third parties. This policy explains what data the app uses and why.

1. Data We Collect
BI Splitter does not collect any data from you directly. All information you enter — restaurant names, item prices, people's names, phone numbers, and bill history — is stored locally on your device only using Core Data and UserDefaults.
We never transmit this data to our servers.
2. Contacts Access
BI Splitter may request access to your device's Contacts so you can quickly add people to a bill. This access is entirely optional.
- Contact data is read locally and only used to populate the people list within the app.
- Contact information is never uploaded, shared, or transmitted anywhere.
- You can revoke access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Contacts.
3. Camera Access
BI Splitter may request camera access so you can scan receipts and attach receipt photos to a bill.
- Images captured are stored on-device only (compressed and saved with the bill record).
- No photos are uploaded to any server.
4. Receipt Parsing (AI Feature)
When you scan a receipt and use the AI parsing feature, the raw OCR text lines extracted from your receipt are sent to OpenAI's API to identify line items and prices. No personal information, names, or phone numbers are included in this request — only the plain text of the scanned receipt.

You can use the manual item entry feature at any time to avoid using this network feature entirely.
5. Apple Pay
BI Splitter integrates with Apple Pay to allow users to collect payments at the table. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple and your chosen payment processor. BI Splitter never has access to your payment credentials, card numbers, or bank information. Please see Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
6. Bill Sharing (Deep Links)
BI Splitter lets you share a bill with another device using a deep link (a billsplit:// URL). The bill data is encoded directly into the link. You share this link manually via Messages, Mail, or AirDrop. We do not operate any server or relay for this feature — the link goes directly from your device to the recipient's device.
7. Analytics & Tracking
BI Splitter does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking libraries. We do not track your behavior across apps or websites.
8. Children's Privacy
BI Splitter is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
